BROADWAY BOUND ONLINE

August 10 – 14 | 9:30am – 12:00pm | Ages 10 – 16 

An intensive course culminating with a live online performance

The Cape Playhouse and The Cape Cod Museum of Art are collaborating to present this unique program with the exciting result of presenting a live streaming performance at the end of the course that showcases each student! Each student will have the opportunity to invite guests to watch their live broadcast. The course will include theatre exercises and activities in a fun, exciting, and inclusive environment. The exercises are designed to broaden creative skills while empowering each student with confidence, self-esteem – while introducing the fundamentals of performing, creative writing, and the collaborative process of creating a new piece of theatre.

  • August 10th – 14th, 2020
  • Monday – Thursday, 9:30am – 12:00pm
  • Friday, 9:30am – 1:30pm
  • Friday, live streamed performance 7:00pm

Sample Daily Schedule

  • 9:30 – 10am, Warm up activity: Acting for the Camera and the Stage. What is the difference?
  • 10:00 – 10:45am, Activity: Creating Props and Scenery.
  • 10:45 – 11:45am, Workshop: From Page to Stage – How to take your idea for a play or musical and transform it to a piece of theatre!
  • 11:45am – 12:00pm, Student exchange, daily reflections, and review

MATERIAL

A notebook or journal to record notes from the class and basic craft supplies from around the home including paper, scissors, markers, glue or tape.

Michelle Kazanowski (Director of Education) is a theatre artist and educator based out of the Boston area. In the past, she has worked with students through the California Shakespeare Theater Conservatory, “Theater Plus!” in Marshfield, as well as through several public schools in Vermont. Recently, as a teaching artist and facilitator, she helped to build the “Creative Outlets” program through the Cape Cod Museum of Art.

Her past theatrical work has taken her through New England, California, and to Florence, Italy. Michelle is a graduate of Saint Michael’s College (Vermont), where she studied Theatre Arts with concentrations in Acting & Directing. Currently she is an Arts Management graduate student through the Arts Extension Service at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
