Playhouse on the green


Join us on the Playhouse Green this summer for a family-fun evening with live entertainment and safe social distancing. We can’t open our theatre doors for you this year, but we do want to welcome you on our campus lawn where you can bring a chair and a picnic – either your own gourmet box or one from one of our fabulous neighboring restaurants.

The lawn will open at 6pm for pre-show picnics.
All events begin at 7:30pm and run approximately one hour to 90 minutes with no intermission.

The Kennedy legacy on cape cod

In collaboration with the JFK Museum in Hyannis and the JFK Library in Boston, join the Director of the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library, Alan Price, and author of Bobby Kennedy: The Making of a Liberal Icon, Larry Tye, in a fascinating behind the scenes conversation about the Kennedy Family and their roots in Hyannisport. The evening will be facilitated by Dick Neitz, former President of the JFK Hyannis Museum.

Nancy Kerrigan - An Olympic Journey

Nancy Kerrigan will share her extraordinary journey fueled by passion and determination – from her first skating competition in Boston at age  nine  through to the exhilarating professional years earning silver and bronze Olympic medals and her acting career. Nancy’s latest endeavor  is  a  documentary on eating disorders in competitive sports to be released soon.

Casey Sherman - Building Suspense

Casey Sherman is a New York Times Bestselling Author of 13 books including The Finest Hours – now a major motion picture starring Casey Affleck, Boston Strong – the basis for the film Patriots Day starring Mark Wahlberg, & his most recent book, Hunting Whitey; the definitive inside story of the pursuit and capture, of legendary Boston mob boss, James “Whitey” Bulger. Casey will be joined by special guest, Dave Wedge, co-author of Patriots Day.

The Mosquito story slam

The Mosquito Story Slam is a live storytelling event currently in its 7th year on the Outer Cape. The Mosquito has presented thousands of stories to audiences at sold-out events all over Cape Cod. The theme of this slam will be “Suddenly Last Summer”. Audience members are invited to prepare five-minute, true stories based on the theme. Ten storytellers will be chosen.

Sarah Swain and the Oh Boys with special guest Bruce MacLean

Sarah Swain and the The Oh Boys have been together since 2008, playing both Sarah’s originals and rockabilly classics with a splash of soul.Their set always has a few surprises… and a vibrant energy that’s downright contagious.

Cape Cod Jazz Quintet

The Cape Cod Jazz Quintet is composed of Cape Cod’s top Jazz musicians and the group has appeared at concerts and private events across Cape Cod. Drummer and Bandleader Bart Weisman heads the annual Provincetown Jazz Festival.

Quartett Giocosa

Featuring four acclaimed string musicians from the Cape Symphony. Giocosa means joy and Quartett Giocosa lives up to their name. Cape Cod’s most in-demand classical group brings exuberance, passion, and vibrancy to every performance – including concerts with Yo-Yo Ma, Joshua Bell and the incomparable Jung-Ho Pak.

a night of johnny cash & carl perkins

If you liked Million Dollar Quartet you will love this concert! James Barry and Scott Moreau, original cast members of the Broadway National Tour of Million Dollar Quartet, lead an evening of iconic Johnny Cash and Carl Perkins tunes. This show will have you singing along with some of the best music from the 1950’s, 60’s and 70’s!

Our Box Office will be closed.


Arrive early to settle on the lawn and enjoy a snack or a meal.
Don’t forget to bring a beach blanket or lawn chair for your comfort! No seating will be provided.


The Cape Playhouse requires all participants to abide by the MA health & safety Covid-19 guidelines by wearing face masks and observing 6 feet distancing for each event.
