JOY & LIGHT IN DENNIS VILLAGE
From December 6 to January 6, the public can enjoy an old-fashioned holiday experience of viewing outdoor seasonal decorations from the comfort of their car or a leisurely walk through the 22-acre campus off historic Route 6A.
Many of the iconic converted kerosene lamp posts that grace the property will be dressed in full greenery regalia – and there will be Christmas trees standing as proud soldiers in front of the Playhouse entrance – as a symbol of light and hope for a brilliant 2021 season!
The kerosene lamps were purchased by Raymond Moore, The Cape Playhouse founder, from the town of Orleans when they converted to electric lights.
Moore placed them along the drives of the campus from as early as 1930 and hired a gentleman to light them every evening at dusk. The lamp posts have been an intrinsic feature of the campus grounds since.
To kick off ILLUME! on December 6th, The Cape Playhouse will be hosting families affiliated with Cape Cod Children’s Place – and the children will be treated to a visit with a socially distancing Santa Claus and surprise holiday activities.
The lamp posts will remain lit and decorated through January 6, 2021, and the campus is open for all to enjoy.
