SEEKING:[ELYOT CHASE]:  Sibyl’s new husband.  He is irreverent, sophisticated, and rich.  He was formerly married to Amanda.  He has a quick and cutting wit that he wields throughout the play.  Superb comic timing. 35-55. [SIBYL CHASE]:  Attractive, innocent, conventional, first time bride who feels very threatened by her new husband’s first wife, Amanda.  Superb comic timing. 25-35. [AMANDA PRYNNE]:  A second time bride.  She is vivacious, quick witted,  spirited, independent, and unconventional.  She has a fiery temper and a tendency to be impulsive.  Superb comic timing. 35-55. [VICTOR PRYNNE]:  Amanda’s second husband.  He is conventional and very pleased to describe himself as normal.  He lacks a sense of humor.  He can be chivalrous.   Superb comic timing.  30-45. [LOUISE]:  Amanda’s French speaking maid.  She is unable to speak English and unable to comprehend what happens around her.  Superb comic timing.  25-55.

She is a specialist in African culture and writing a book on Darfur.

Actor/singer/guitar player (lead guitar); he was the American pioneer of rockabilly music and best known for his song “Blue Suede Shoes”; must be an excellent lead guitarist. [JOHNNY CASH] Male, 20-30. Actor/singer/guitar player to portray Johnny cash at the dawn of his epic career; must be familiar with his music and able to play guitar; tall; should sound and look somewhat like Johnny without being an “impersonator”. [SAM PHILLIPS] Male, 25-40. Excellent actor; “Father of Rock’n’Roll” and founder of Sun Records who discovered Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and many others including Roy Orbison and B.B. King; a towering and charismatic figure in American music. [DYANNE] Female, 18-30. Excellent actor and singer; she was an aspiring singer and Elvis’s girlfriend; attractive; great singer with a wide range; sings solos and back-up throughout the show; sings “Fever” in her alto range and covers the high soprano part of “Riders In The Sky” (Johnny Cash song).
