Jen Cody Will Bump It With a Trumpet in Cape Cod Gypsy

Jennifer Cody, the Broadway performer who has appeared in Urinetown, Shrek The Musical, and many Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS fundraisers, has a busy 2017 lined up, including a stint in the Cape Playhouse revival of Gypsy, as a trumpet-playing stripper.

August 8-19: She will be featured as veteran stripper Tessie Tura in a revival of Gypsy, the Jule Styne/Stephen Sondheim/Arthur Laurents musical at The Cape Playhouse in Dennis, Massachusetts.

Cody, whose Broadway credits include Beauty and the Beast, Seussical, Taboo, and The Pajama Game, is also known for having lent her voice to the character of Charlotte La Bouff in the Disney animated film The Princess and the Frog. She will soon be voicing a new character on Disney Channel’s animated Mickey and The Roadster Racers.

She has a special offstage date coming up in August as well: the 20th anniversary of her wedding to fellow Broadway star, Hunter Foster, who will also be her director on the Bucks County Playhouse Rocky Horror Show.

Cody was a special guest performer on Playbill’s Broadway on the High Seas 5 cruise to Southeast Asia.
