It’s Hollywood 1939.

You are a high powered

movie mogul. You’ve just fired The Director because

The Star didn’t like him.

You have The Screenwriter who hasn’t read the book.

What's a fellow to do??

If you're David O. Selznick,

you pull director Victor Flemming off the  "Wizard of Oz",

tie playwright Ben Hecht to a chair, lock the doors,

close the shades and knock out the screenplay to

one of the most successful

movies of all time…

 "GONE WITH THE WIND".

A hilarious backstage peek

into what really goes

on behind the scenes.

"Frankly my dear,

this is one funny play…

a rip-roaring farce!"

crowed the NY Daily News.

The Cape Playhouse is

proud to welcome

singing sensation Leslie Uggams starring  in this innovative musical celebration

of life and  family from the legendary creators of

Cabaret, Chicago, Zorba,

and more. Set in a roller rink

on the outskirts of

Coney Island, it is the ragged fringe of the  New York

Show-Biz world,  filled with brassy ballads and glitzy

show-stopping numbers like "Colored Lights",

"We Can Make It",

and

"The Rink".

 So come,

take the adventure:

"under the roller coaster,

 next to the jungle ride,

right of the caterpillar,

left of the waterslide."

“ A Perfect Musical Comedy", "The Oklahoma of the horse players, the South

Pacific of the crapshooters" exclaimed the critics when this tuner opened on Broadway.

Sexy Hot Box Girls, Pin-striped  Gamblers, and the Salvation Army come together in this greatest of American Musicals based on Damon Runyons' legendary stories. This all-dancing, all-singing spectacular is a cornucopia of  hit songs , "Luck Be a Lady",

"I've Never Been in Love Before", "Sit Down You're Rockin the Boat", "My Time of Day",

"I'll Know", "Adelaides Lament" just to name a few!!

Romance, Comedy, Broadway, and  New York's Time Square coalesce into the brightest, glittering, shimmering evening

that will leave you

smiling ear to ear!

The lure of the Theatre!

What is a poor country boy

to do, when he hears the sirens calling him?  If you are Will from Stratford, you head right into London town and take the first job offered you in the theatre,

Yes – that's right –

a "Spear-shaker"!

Meanwhile, wife Ann is trying to convince Will to give up this foolishness…

there are pigs to be fed!
This new hit play, which was  totally sold out in New York, explores the age old question of  who actually wrote those sonnets, comedies, and tragedies.

Perhaps the Earl of Oxford, perhaps even Elizabeth the Queen herself.

The New York Times called it "a genuine delight".

A bawdy, raucus, literate comedy!

It's 1968 – tune in as

Americas' "Swinging Sweethearts", Pete Bartel and Keely Stevens reunite for a live television variety special reliving their illustrious careers in TV and Las Vegas Showrooms. The only catch … they haven't spoken since their big break-up at Caesars' Palace , five years ago!

Filled with great songs, highlights include "What Now My Love", "Fever", the title song to their one Broadway flop, "Tony and Cleo"(based on "Anthony and Cleopatra"), and an awe inspiring version of "The Battle Hymn of the Republic"! Starring Cape Playhouse favorite, George Dvorsky , Rex Reed said this is the "brightest and most entertaining show in town!"

"It'’s a sequined, bell-bottomed parade of escalating fabulousness!!"

Our Audience Choice winner –

by a Cape Playhouse

favorite playwright!

On a walk in the park,

Greg is adopted by Sylvia, a naughty-mouthed dog.

Sylvia thinks Greg is a God for taking her in and truly becomes “Man's Best Friend".

Of course, this doesn’t go down well with wife, Kate,

and a rivalry to match Linda Evans and Joan Collins ensues. Who gets to share the couch,

an ice cream cone, or an anniversary  trip to the country, with one of you

drooling down the neck of  the other??  Then.... there is that great gulping sound  coming  from  a fresh drink in the loo!

“A Howling Delight!  Four woofs and four paws up!!”  says  "Better Homes and Puppies!"

Bright , breezy, dizzy and funny.

Due to the nature of performing arts, all shows, dates and performers are subject to change.
